Colin was diagnosed with MS in 2018. Having previously been as a member of the Scottish rowing team, his diagnosis had a huge impact on his mental health eventually he had to give up his career as a PE teacher.
Following a talent ID event in 2018 Colin was picked up by the GB cycling development program and spent 3 years with the squad. In 2022 Colin decided to ‘have a go’ at triathlon. Having been classified as a PTS3 he attended his first event, the British Championships. He had done some triathlons prior to his MS but had done very little running and no swimming since due to his ataxia. Remarkably Colin crossed the line first in Dorney and since has been on a rapid trajectory racing for Team GB.
From Sept to Nov 2022 with training support from Trythan, he raced 2 world cups winning one silver, won the European cup and finished 4th at the World Championships. Colin has now been named on British Triathlon’s Paralympic World Class Programme and his sights are set on Paralympic qualification.
